‘Recall’ Senator Boxer

The most radical pro-abortion actcoming out of California occurred on June 9, 2000 when Senator Barbara Boxer wrote an angry letter to the FDA demanding that they drop the patient safety standards they were planning to require before approving the abortion drug, RU-486. These included such minimal requirements on the prescribing physician as the ability to read an ultrasound (for lack of which Brenda Vise died), passing a course in how to administer RU-486, and admitting privileges at a hospital.

The FDA complied and we now have at least two dead (including Boxer constituent Holly Patterson) and over 400 others with “serious adverse events.” Boxer has been no friend to women and children — voting against the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and never once taking up the fight for women’s health for minimal regulations for information or regulations on abortion for the health of a woman. California women have suffered, and Boxer representation at the federal level has injured women across the country.

One conservative that respects life and the health of women, Howard Kaloogian, is running against Boxer this year and could replace this dangerous representation for women across the country and in California — where it is said, “So goes California, so goes the nation.” With a change in representation in the Senate, finally California can set a positive example.

Friends of the recent Governor’s Recall will recognize the name, Howard Kaloogian for Senate in 2004. Kaloogian helped initiate the California Recall, led rallies across the state, spoke tirelessly on radio talk shows and made personal appearances to ensure the support needed to make the recall a successful reality.

As in the recall effort, the volunteers and grass roots support will be the determining factor to change this seat to one that respects life and supports women’s health. “It will only be with the help of the people of California, that we can continue to make history and restore the luster of the Golden State with a new US Senator,” Kaloogian said.
