 Up Close and Personal

Introducing...
Dr. David "Chappy" Walden
Missions on the Edge (M.O.T.E., Inc.)

POSITION: Founder - CEO

PHONE: (858) 613-4848

LENGTH OF SERVICE: 15 years

WHAT DOES THE ORGANIZATION DO? Training and sending believers into Christ-centered ministries within secular institutions , i.e. public schools, state healthcare systems, international prison evangelism, and rehabilitation programs in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

YOUR PRIMARY DUTIES: Set vision, provide leadership, teach, appoint and develop leaders for the M.O.T.E. ministry programs globally.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH? Continue to move with the authority of God to globally establish, equip and strengthen believers in their faith and deeds through creating, sustaining, and expanding effective leadership with faith in Christ-based ministries that become model programs for other nations.

WHAT ARE YOU BEST KNOWN FOR? Professor at Bethel University & Seminary on the topic ³Creating Faith Based Organizations – within Secular Institutions.² My doctoral dissertation was on this subject. My missions organization for the past 15 years has successfully established programs in public education, state hospitals and in foreign prisons working with governments and businesses. I have published papers on the subject as well as on the topic. I have written a book on life experiences as a successful entrepreneur in the motion picture and television industry. Also, globally taught conferences and workshops on this topic.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL THE LORD IS LEADING THE ORGANIZATION? The Lord is expanding the ministry into the Caribbean nations.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING TO YOU? The apathy in the American evangelical body of Jesus Christ.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST IN YOUR POSITION? Using the gifts that He has given to me that are on loan that I might bring glory to His holy name each and every day!

HOW CAN PEOPLE PRAY FOR YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION? I would love to have believers go to the M.O.T.E. website (www.MOTE.ws) and seek God to where the Lord would call them to pray Š for the leaders of M.O.T.E. to stay focused on the main thing — which is Jesus Christ risen!

IN WHAT CAPACITY CAN VOLUNTEERS SERVE? Locally in public elementary schools in our After School Homework Club programs. Or in hospital or convalescent facilities as volunteer chaplain assistants or comfort care providers. Also, in an international prison ministry as evangelists, disciplers or in the rehabilitation programs. Training is provided.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: My wife Sandee looks just like Betty Boop. She is a mighty woman of God. We have two children, Vincent and Jessica, both married.

WHERE IS YOUR HOME CHURCH AND YOUR INVOLVEMENT THERE? Because we are missionaries, we attend several churches in the San Diego area. We are currently more frequent at a church in Poway called ³The Well.² Rik Wadge is the pastor. I am acting as an elder and missions pastor ($1 per year). I am also Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Churchıs ³Missionary At Large² under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bruce Humphrey. My wife and I are members of Rancho Bernardo Baptist Church where Dan Maxton is the pastor and where I was ordained.

IS THERE A FAVORITE BOOK THAT HAS MADE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE? The Call written by Os Guiness.

A FAVORITE SCRIPTURE? Psalm 27:4, Ephesians 3:20 and James 1:27.
