Visitors welcome at local art festival

In this unsettled time people look for peace in many places. Artists were asked to depict peace in their entries for the 40th annual Religious Art Festival at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 3502 Clairemont Drive in San Diego. The church invites all persons of the community to stop and see how the artists and poets interpret peace and our role as peacemakers.

The art selected by juror Edwin Wordell will be on display, Sunday, March 2, through Easter Sunday noon, April 20. Poetry judged by Jack Webb will also be on display for the public’s reading pleasure. The show will be open the general public on Fridays and Saturdays, 1 to 4 p.m., except on Good Friday, April 18, and Holy Saturday, April 19. Appointments may be made to see the art at other times by calling (858) 278-0255. Groups are especially welcome to tour the art exhibit. All tours are free and open to all members of the community.

The awards ceremony and reception will be Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m., in the church sanctuary. Rev. Galal Gough, pastor at St. Mark’s when the show was founded, will be present at this celebration of the festival’s 40th anniversary.
