Pastor
John M. Casto,
Church on the Rock, San Diego:
I enjoy teaching from Matthew's account of the life of Jesus
because it contains so many great topical lessons of life:
Salt and Light, Love Your Enemies, Prayer, Wise and Foolish
Builders, the parables, on and on throughout the entire gospel
narrative! Jesus said, "You have heard it said ... but I say."
I entitled these lessons "The Jesus Way." In my opinion, the
most notable in the Book of Matthew is the "Jesus Way" of
resolving offenses. If there is a lesson that needs to be
taught over and over in the church it is the lesson of forgiveness.
There are only two ways to resolve an offense - forgive your
brother and go get forgiven. Lastly, there are those famous
last words of Jesus "Go ye therefore." He was saying to us
all... Get everybody saved. Get the "saved ones" discipled.
And get the "discipled ones" going to get everybody saved.
