The congregation at Santee Christian Church recently voted in late January to appoint Justin McMurdie to the position of senior pastor. He is replacing Elmer Jenkins, who will become minister to seniors.

Faith Based Community Development Corporation will have three Homebuyer Education classes in North County this month. The first will be on Saturday, March 12, at the Oceanside Public Library community room, 3861-B1 Mission Ave., Oceanside (between library and police station). The additional meetings will be March 19 and 26 at the North County Lifeline building, 200 Michigan Ave., Vista. Each of the meetings is free, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and advance registration is required by calling (760) 435-0600.

Evelyn Wills of the Grossmont High School governing board has been selected as one of the 15 “Women of the Year” for California by Gov. Arnold Schwarznegger. She was the only woman from the county designated for the honor.
