LENGTH OF SERVICE: 9 years
WHAT
DOES THE ORGANIZATION DO? Generational Crossroads (GC) uses Bible study,
discussion and prayer ministry to look generationally at crossroads
- the effects of significant patterns and events in our lives. Our
mission statement says, “Every Christian, everywhere, living
God’s plan and purpose with honesty, integrity and purity.”
GC is for Christians from all walks of life ready to deal with their
issues honestly in a small-group setting that offers safety and
confidentiality. We learn to live out the practical, hands-on “how-to’s”
of the process of change, what the Bible calls sanctification.
WHAT ARE YOUR PRIMARY DUTIES: As founder and executive
director, I lead day-to-day operations. I write all of our materials,
including our curriculums Generational Crossroads, and Crossroads
For Youth. We began GC in 1996 in Fresno, and I supervise our Fresno
director. I train coaches and trainers, facilitate our San Diego
groups, and visit the groups in Fresno. I am available to speak,
teach and preach about healing through personal sanctification.
I am an ordained minister, and I participate in coalitions of pastors,
organization leaders, and intercessors.
WHAT
AREA OF EXPERTISE DO YOU HAVE OR ARE YOU KNOWN FOR?
I
am rather direct and am able to quickly pinpoint areas in which
God wants to address issues. In our GC sessions I roam, which means
I split my time between the small groups. When people see me walk
towards their group I am used to them having a bit of a reaction,
because they know something new is going to surface in their lives.
I also like to help people network.
WHAT
WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH? I believe the Spirit of God is preparing
to bring the body of Christ into profound relational healing and
restoration. This includes Christians across every denominational,
social, ethnic and cultural affiliation; from leadership to laity,
no Christian needs to be left behind.
WHERE
DO YOU FEEL THE LORD IS LEADING THE ORGANIZATION? I feel GC is to go everywhere
people are willing to invite God to deal with their issues. We will
begin our third citywide GC session at San Diego First Assembly
Church on March 8. In addition to sessions held at churches, organizations
are beginning to get on board.
WHAT
IS FRUSTRATING TO YOU?I find it frustrating to watch Christians suffer in silence
with life-dominating problems. We all have issues. We all need to
grow. I know the comfort and healing I find when I share my struggles
with godly people I can trust. This has to change.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST IN YOUR JOB? I love the breakthrough
moments at GC as participants connect to God and see something new.
Their eyes sparkle as revelation sinks in. God continues the process
through the weeks.
HOW
CAN PEOPLE PRAY FOR YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION? Christians can pray
for God to help us spread our message and to draw those ready to
deal with their issues. We can use prayer for protection from distractions
that keep people from attending our meetings, and for courage once
they get there to move forward in their process. GC is a front-lines
ministry and I appreciate prayers that lift my team and our families
to the Lord for His provision and His protection.
DO
YOU HAVE A NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS? Pastors can designate volunteers willing to
go through GC with the goal of facilitating it at their churches
and organizations. We always need people to help us spread the word
about our groups. GC can use the help of someone with administrative
abilities and bookkeeping.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: Allen and I have been married for 32 years,
and moved to California from the East Coast in 1974. Allen works
in the construction field and is an avid tennis player. We have
two wonderful grown children.
WHAT IS YOUR HOME CHURCH? My home church is
San Diego First Assembly. They are very supportive of GC and consider
that as my ministry to the church.
IS
THERE A FAVORITE BOOK THAT HAS MADE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE?
The
book is called Rees Howells Intercessor, by Norman Grubb. It tells the story
of Rees Howells, who learned and lived the principles of intercession.
WHAT
IS YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE? Romans 12:1,2. I see GC as an altar where
we lay our lives down so God can reveal our true identities in Christ.
God will wait for us to give Him permission to work in our lives.
Romans 8:1,2 is another.
IS THERE A “NUGGET” YOU WOULD
LIKE TO SHARE?
The Lord told me a long time ago that if we don’t give up,
we make it through our trials. James 1:12 affirms the Lord gives
a crown of life to those who persevere. Keep going in God according
to His will, and you make it. I love sharing that with people.
