East County worship leader releases CD

After graduating from Baylor University, Robin Bolden worked as a deputy sheriff in the South Central area of Los Angeles for several years before beginning to pursue his lifelong aspiration of playing music professionally.

As a musician and performer, Robin played the California bar scene for four years and decided in 2002 to make the move to Nashville. However, before making the move, he enrolled in school for 6 months at the Horizon School of Evangelism in San Diego. This was in response to a calling that the Lord had placed on his life at age 13.

While attending school, Robin soon discovered his gift for leading worship. God began to use these gifts to serve the body of Christ in a powerful and unique way. Upon finishing the school in July 2002, Robin decided to forego his Nashville aspirations and began working as an intern pastor at Horizon Park Chapel in downtown San Diego. During this time Robin grew to a deeper understanding of his calling and experienced the joys and trials of being a minister.

At the end of two years, Robin, through God’s providential hand, received a phone call from Dr. Frank Robinson at Magnolia Wesleyan Church in Santee. They were in need of a worship leader and made the offer for him to come on board. Robin accepted the job as director of worship and currently continues in this position.

In the summer of 2004, Robin’s first worship CD, “In the Twinkling of an Eye,” was completed. On Saturday, March 5, he will present a CD release and worship concert at Live at Ground Zero, 2930 Jamacha Road, El Cajon. Doors open to the free event at 6 p.m. and the concert at 7.

He describes “In the Twinkling of an Eye” as “a worship offering that combines pop, soul, rock, country, and gospel all into one-12 song package. From the first song to the very last, it will have you clapping, dancing, and shouting the name of Jesus!”

Robin has studied piano, guitar, and voice extensively. He has completed numerous songwriting courses and continues to teach song writing workshops on a selective basis.

He has opened for Trisha Yearwood, Mark Wills, and Leanne Rimes. He has also headlined several large regional venues.

“Our ambition is to boldly proclaim Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world through worship evangelism,” he says. “We believe in proclaiming the uncompromised gospel in a passionate and enthusiastic manner. We believe that the Gospel is exciting and should be delivered in such a way.”
