Time for pastors to take back nation

By DON PERKINS

I recently attended the ’ÄúCalifornia Renewal Project,’Äù and I must say that I was truly challenged to get busy and do something for our country to regain our faith. This meeting so stirred my heart that I left there feeling an urgency to get involved with the political affairs of our state.¬Ý

Now, don’Äôt get me wrong. I am a registered voter and I always take part in the election process by voting.¬ÝI pray all the time for our country and state leaders as the Scriptures command. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 states that we should pray for those in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life.¬Ý

GUEST COMMENTARY

However, this meeting really challenged me to step up to the plate and get even more involved. I believe every pastor in San Diego County should have attended this meeting. Many of us have very busy schedules, and that is our problem. We are so busy that we don’Äôt notice what is going on around us. We feel that everything will take care of itself.

Some of us have strong beliefs that the political arena shouldn’Äôt be mixed with our calling as ministers. My friends, after what I witnessed in this conference, we are in danger of losing our freedom to do what we do as ministers of the gospel. Our adversary is at work tirelessly, 24/7, to bring in an agenda that is opposed to the gospel of Christ and we are just letting it happen.

God please forgive us for being too busy to stand up for righteousness. I want to challenge every pastor in San Diego to get involved with the ’ÄúCalifornia Renewal Project’Äù because your Christian freedoms are on the line. I left from that conference feeling so robbed by my country because its historic foundations were built on godly principles, but it was purposely omitted from being taught in schools.

Parents, I would challenge you to do some research on the Christian heritage of America and begin to teach your children, because it is not being taught in school. I am now working to get involved and stirring others to do the same. This conference set me on fire and presented the tools that all the pastors in San Diego need in order to affect those under their leadership.¬Ý

We are in an election year, and it is very important that the right person gets into office. The wrong person could bring the judgment of God on America. If I can emphasize anything to you, it is this: Vote based on your Christian values. Your vote is not only a physical action it is also a spiritual statement. You are ultimately voting for or against God.¬Ý

We should want the leaders that govern us to have a fear and reverence of God. If you think that this is an insignificant matter, just keep doing nothing and it will only be a matter of time before we lose our Christian rights to Satan’Äôs agenda.¬Ý

The enemy hates America because of our Christian heritage and our desire to send the gospel all over the world. We have been his target for many years. He knows that when America sneezes, the rest of the world gets a cold. However, we are fast becoming a godless country. I am afraid that the Judgments of God are looming over us if we don’Äôt repent.¬Ý

I believe the process of turning back to God must be mandated and lead by the pastors of America. I’Äôm certain it can be successfully done, but, if we don’Äôt get serious about becoming the godly conscience to America as we once were, then, we will soon be known as America the Heathen Nation.¬Ý

Lord please help us!
