 Up Close and Personal

Introducing . . . Community Outreach Ministry

LOCATION: Wildomar    POSITION:  Founders

PHONE:  951-698-7650    E-MAIL: info@communityoutreachministry.org

WHAT DOES THE ORGANIZATION DO:  Our mission is caring, sharing, and changing lives. We accomplish this by connecting and engaging people to build their capacities and assets; and strengthening and improving the community through outreach. We have outreaches for all ages through drama, dancing, singing, flags, and gymnastics, summer camp scholarships for at-risk kids, free holiday toys, clothes, and food for needy families. Community Outreach also provides free emergency resources and referral services. Our goal is to help homeless families, victims of extremely poor living conditions, and children at risk.

YOUR PRIMARY DUTIES:  Networking in the community to raise the level of awareness that there are 70,000 prisonersı children in Southern California. We are committed to helping these forgotten victims of crime to have a life changing positive experience through Angel Tree camping, Christmas and mentoring.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH?  Our goal this year is to send 175 prisonersı children to summer camp for a week using scholarships provided by Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree Ministry. At camp, youth will learn the 6 pillars of character, be challenged to make good choices, develop new learning, teaming, and life skills, memorize Bible stories, singing and sports in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Following camp it is important for these youngsters be get plugged into the local church and connect to a mentor.

WHAT ARE YOU BEST KNOWN FOR?  We are well known for partnering with Gem of the Valley Church to host the annual Angel Tree Christmas Party. This past year more than 80 families with approximately 200 Angel Tree children were provided with over 400 gifts. Gifts were purchased, wrapped and decorated by private citizens. Through the gifts, the prisoner feels the pride of doing something for his or her child and the child experiences the joy of knowing his parent hasnıt forgotten him.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING TO YOU? Lack of skilled workers willing to give of their time, energy and resources to make a difference in our children, community and nation.

WHAT DO YOU  ENJOY MOST IN YOUR POSITION?  Meeting physical and spiritual needs of children and families in hopelessness, helplessness and despair.

HOW CAN PEOPLE PRAY FOR YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION? Need gifted servant leaders who will agree with our mission and purpose. People who will be committed to caring, sharing and changing lives in our present sphere of influence and as we expand our borders to have a greater impact upon at-risk youth and their families.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL THE LORD IS LEADING THE ORGANIZATION?  To have a greater influence, responsibility, and opportunity in reaching prisonersı children and their families across America, where there are more than 2 million kids who now have a mom or dad in prison. The number is huge - but so is the opportunity. Indicators show 7 out of 10 prisonerıs kids will be in prison themselves unless they are reached with the Good News!

IN WHAT CAPACITY CAN VOLUNTEERS SERVE? Volunteers are needed to serve in administration, advertising, marketing, website technician, grant writers, fundraising, children and youth workers, musicians, licensed B drivers, counselors, mentors and to do mass mailings, and pass out flyers. Community service credit is provided! We also have a need for sponsors, fundraisers, will memoriam, and donations.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY:  We are a husband and wife team who loves serving in our community. We have a heart for building up the most forgotten ones by letting them know God loves them and has made a way for them to be in His forever family.

WHERE IS YOUR HOME CHURCH AND YOUR INVOLVEMENT THERE: Our home church is Gem of the Valley Church in Wildomar, where we serve as missionary pastors. We enjoy doing outreaches to needy individuals and families in trailer parks, apartment complexes, low income communities, children in group homes, foster care, and shut-in seniors. We really love meeting peopleıs physical and spiritual needs.

IS THERE A SIGNIFICANT BOOK? The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson

A FAVORITE SCRIPTURE? ³Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither be afraid.² John 14:27
