God and Money

Sometimes I wonder about our economy and what it means for the church. If the U.S. dollar is losing value to the Euro and other currencies, increasing costs, how are we in the church supposed to keep up on our tithing and offerings to God's kingdom and His causes?

What way will God provide if we have nothing?

What faith do we have left in Christ when times are tough and contributions are out of reach or seem out of reach? What's left? Closing churches or cutting back or slashing support for missions?

Should we just start living the same way our Amish brothers and sisters still live today? More faith, less luxuries and treasures? Trade in our gas-guzzlers for horses and buggies? Sell our homes and leave our cities and towns? Stop being lazy with the view and rough it by milking cows and doing farm work?

If we're trying to help other Christians abroad in Third World countries, how come we can't seem to help our families (and ourselves) and the less fortunate here at home? We do so much for others, but yet some people like to call us "The Great Satan." Why us?
