Putting your music in motion?

By now you have probably heard about all the Grammy winners and have seen the Dove Award nominees announced on the TV. Truly, it is a great honor and a wonderful celebration of music— but to all of you singers, musicians and songwriters, what about you?

Nothing is too far out of your reach. In fact, the Bible says that ³All things are possible if you believe.² Some of the greatest talents have come from our very own San Diego. The Katinas were born in Samoa but spent much of their youth in Oceanside where their father served in the Marines at Camp Pendleton. P.O.D., Switchfoot, Dance Floor Prophets and several others that have made it big have started out homegrown with small beginnings but pressed on towards their calling in the music industry.

In my travels Iıve visited several ministries and churches and have heard some very talented choirs, musicians and soloist. In fact, there are some that have completely blown the roof off the building. I think that there is much undiscovered talent that needs to be discovered. Some of the music shows that are on screen today feature singers that started out in the church.

American Idol winner from season six, Jordin Sparks, was not just singing for the first time on the show, but she started out at the age of 14 singing gospel music. She was singing everywhere that she could and connecting herself with others that would encourage her desire to put her music in motion. The perseverance paid off and in 2004, Miss Sparks was the winner of Gospel Music Associationıs Music in the Rockies, a Christian music showcase. Shortly after that she released a 5-track CD and shared it with all who would hear it. The rest is history.

That may be a huge success story, but why couldnıt it be yours? Musicians, write those great songs. Singers, sing your heart out and dare to dream big. God will take you where you need to go. He does know the desires of your heart.

Putting your music into motion just simply means, if you believe that you have something that others would be blessed in hearing, then believe in yourself and create your destiny. You never know, you may just write the next award-winning song or you may record the next great single. You never know where God can take it. But nothing can happen unless you start the process of creating beautiful music. You can do it!

You can put your music into motion but most of all I invite you to feel the awesome POWER OF MUSIC!
