Abortion clinic protesters victorious in court

A California Appeals Court has ruled that if an abortion clinic wants to keep protestors from coming right up to the clinic’s doors, they will have to take each person or organization to court individually.

This means that pro-life protestors will be able to protest in front of an abortion clinic, even if another group had been ruled by the court to stay 15 feet away. This decision comes shortly after the Supreme Court ruling in NOW vs. Scheidler, which also protected the rights of protestors.

Operation Rescue national director Flip Benham said, “I’m glad that Christians can allow the theology of the church house to become biography in the streets, and that we can actually give mothers a real choice.” Benham said he doesn’t understand why anyone sees the peaceful pro-life protests as a threat.

“When you see us, you’ll find us praying and praising and proclaiming the Word of God,” said Benham.

Wendy Wright, senior policy director at Concerned Women for America, said, “Finally the courts are recognizing that you cannot find someone guilty just by association. Injunctions only apply to the people who are named on them.”
