 Up Close and Personal

Harold Brown of Set Free Facility Management Co.

POSITION:  CEO and Pastor

PHONE: (619) 977-0633

LOCATION: El Cajon

LENGTH OF SERVICE: 4 years

WHAT DOES THE ORGANIZATION DO? We minister to the lost, the 1% of society that most have given up on. Our four phase discipleship ministry houses, feeds, and ministers the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these individuals that have made a commitment to learn a new way of life. Our pastors and overseers live with the disciples 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We have ranches in the East County that house our first phase men and women. We operate the Fabulous 7 Motel and Emma’s restaurant where disciples in phase 2, 3, and 4 learn Christian work skills and prepare for ministry. Our family restoration program currently is ministering to 35 families with 57 children. We go where the pizza man won’t deliver to minister to the 1% of society that most fear.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRIMARY DUTIES:  My primary duties are husband, father and pastor of Set Free Baptist Fellowship of San Diego, located at the East County Ministry and Arts Center in El Cajon. I am also the operations officer for the fellowship and the CEO of Set Free Facility Management Company. The management company employees over 20 graduates of the program and cares for the operation of the motel and restaurant. We provide safe self-sustaining facilities for the fellowship to operate its discipleship programs.

WHAT AREA OF EXPERTISE DO YOU HAVE OR ARE YOU KNOWN FOR? My gifts are administration and teaching, my work history is in facility management.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH? We hope to bring this model of ministry to over 200 cities around the country in the next 10 years. The model we have developed here in El Cajon will work anywhere in a city where drug addicts and the homeless exist. We will locate a drug and prostitute-ridden motel and restaurant and transform them into transitional living facilities promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL THE LORD IS LEADING THE ORGANIZATION? We hope to be a large part of this end time revival that is spoken by the prophets “the latter rain.”

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING TO YOU?The amounts of monies that are wasted by the government and their reluctance to allow faith-based ministries like Set Free to receive grants without the strings and sometimes ropes they attach.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST IN YOUR JOB? Watching an individual come into the program torn up from the floor up and then seeing them two months later after their ranch experience, then seeing them through to graduation and back into the kingdom as ministers of the Gospel.

HOW CAN PEOPLE PRAY FOR YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION?  Pray for the Lord’s hand to be on us. All we need is Him and the power of His might.

DO YOU HAVE A NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS? The greatest need we have is for child-care workers both during the morning hours with the toddlers and then after school activities.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY:  My wife Jacky works with the San Diego Rescue Mission as Regional Thrift store manager. We have four children: David 10, Daniel 7, Adam 6, and Anna 3.

WHAT IS YOUR HOME CHURCH?  Set Free El Cajon, where I serve as pastor.

IS THERE A FAVORITE BOOK THAT HAS MADE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE? The book that has impacted my life like no other is the Bible, it has given light in the darkest times and brought comfort when I was hurt, it has guided me when I was lost and provided hope for our future.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE? Before coming to Christ I was a thief and when I first read this scripture it not only removed my guilt but gave me my life’s mission. Eph. 4:28: “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

IS THERE A “NUGGET” YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?  Do not judge a book by its cover. Many times people look at others and judge them before they even say hello. Take the time to speak to someone today that you might normally avoid.
