Dance
Floor Prophets combine all roots of American style. This acoustic
alternative band stands out! Rick is the lead singer, Holly is on
the violin, Aaron plays the drums, and Darin plays bass. This group
can play a little bit of everything. Listening to every element
makes you feel whole. Hearing Holly on the violin could make anyone’s
heartstrings melt. Rick’s smooth voice comforts and is very
enjoyable to listen to. And the instruments played by Darin and
Aaron don’t go unnoticed. They successfully combine jazz,
rock, hillbilly, soul country and lots of string.
Their
first CD, “wReckoning Ball,” creates a feeling in each
song, through both the music and the word. If you like American-style
music of any kind, you will appreciate the uniqueness of the band.
They make you want to dance, and while you’re dancing they
prophesy! Take a look at some lyrics from the song Change in Me:
“Well
I was born dead, and right from the start I had no heart. Well,
I was blinded, I couldn’t see at all, all I could do was fall,
but I tell you there’s been a Change in Me...I used to be
a vampire, a beast of the night, all I could do was bite. I used
to be a nightmare, I didn’t have no light and I could do no
right, but I tell you there’s been a Change in Me...There’s
a love that will live within you, but it must come down from above.
Start a whole new beginning in you, and set you free Lord, set me
free as a dove. There’s been a Change in Me.”
Rick
said he found his musical inspiration as a young kid after listening
to songs that meant nothing, but had a cool beat to it. When he
met God, and was forever changed he felt that songs should have
meaning, not just a cool tune. Rick hopes that people who listen
to Dance Floor Prophets would not “play Christian, but experience
God by building a boat! It’s my heart’s desire to see
people that don’t know, to open their eyes and minds as to
whether or not He’s real.” And for those already Christian,
he hopes that they would walk by faith, because “Christians
can be so complacent.”
Rick
wears two hats. He is also the pastor of Horizon Park Chapel in
San Diego. His full place makes him excited about life and he feels
it, because “at the end of the day I’m tired.”
But he takes comfort in knowing that there is no other way. “I,
Paul, am a prisoner of Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 3:1, NLV).
There is no other place he’d rather be.
They
have a new CD coming out in June called “In the Shelter.”
If you want to hear them perform live, Dance Floor Prophets plays
