Many, Many Thanks

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Dana Serrano’s commentary in the May editon of Good News, Etc. was right on. The legislators seem only to be concerned with their jobs and how to keep them. Cutting back on their travel expenses, alone would go a long ways in helping our financial problems.

This morning I read Mr. Tom McClintock’s article in the San Diego Union Tribune on the free ride illegals are getting to enter our colleges and universities, while our hard-working legal resident children can’t get in with a straight A average. I believe that most of our politicos are afraid of the Hispanic voters and will follow any agenda to get re-elected instead of taking care of the constituents that elected them into office the first time.

Our daughter was fortunate to have been able to attend UCSD and USD School of Law some 10 to 15 years ago. Today, she would not have qualified. She didn’t cheat, lie or plagiarize to get her degrees. She paid her own way, by taking out student loans and working part time at Price Club. I feel sorry for those parents and their children who cannot afford to pay the ever-increasing costs for college. Our daughter-in-law is teaching high school AP biology while attending classes to get her master’s degree.

I firmly believe those who do not get the rewards by working for them, do not make the best use of the money spent to get them.

Wave The Flag!

It is outrageous that U.S. Olympic officials warned our athletes not to wave the U.S. flag during their medal celebrations at this year's Olympic games.

What was the justification for this contemptible warning? Fear that demonstrations of American pride "might be viewed as confrontational or insulting or cause embarrassment."

U.S. Olympic officials might as well have asked our athletes to lose. This would certainly mollify those who hate us and avoid any perception of American “arrogance.”

Hopefully our athletes will ignore the appeasers from the U.S. Olympic bureaucracy and celebrate their victories as they should: proud of themselves and of their great country.

Stop Aguirre!

The most critical local race in November is the San Diego City Attorney race. The Democratic nominee and frontrunner is Mike Aguirre. Mr. Aguirre has already indicated that he completely supports gay marriage and all forms of homosexuality. His immoral positions are reflected in his fundraising efforts in Hillcrest with business owners tied to the gay pornography industry. The City Attorney would be responsible for litigating any cases where illegal gay marriage licenses were issued in San Diego. We already know what Mr. Aguirre would do. Just like the city attorney in San Francisco, Mr. Aguirre would not prosecute the issuers of gay marriage licenses. In fact, he would embrace those who are homosexual and who marry.

It is critical that Mr. Aguirre be stopped. Please help stop this immoral man from becoming the next San Diego City Attorney. Mr. Aguirre is the equivalent of putting the sodomy in Sodom.

Who is running against Mr. Aguirre? Born again Christian attorney and Republican nominee Leslie Devaney. Mrs. Devaney is a strong advocate of family values and protecting our kids in schools. Leslie also needs your help. Please help her campaign either through donations, walking the streets, etc. But above all pray, pray, pray, for her victory. Pray and fast about this election. This will be our finest opportunity to turn the immoral rot in San Diego around. Leslie Devaney can be contacted at www.LeslieDevaney.com. Her telephone number is 858-334-0171.

Bush's Agenda

President Bush’s pro-growth agenda, strong education system, and policies to help American workers gain the skills to secure good jobs are the right ways to respond to the challenges of our growing and changing economy. The President’s jobs and growth policies have put the economy on the road to recovery, but there is more work to be done.

The President has outlined a six-point plan to create even more job opportunities for America’s workers and keep America the best place in the world to do business. The plan includes: enabling families and businesses to plan for the future with confidence by making tax reductions permanent; making health care costs more affordable and predictable; reducing the burden of lawsuits on our economy; ensuring an affordable, reliable energy supply; streamlining regulations and paperwork requirements; and opening new markets for American products and services.
