Thank
you, thank you, thank you! Dana Serrano’s commentary in
the May editon of Good News, Etc. was right on. The legislators seem only to be concerned with
their jobs and how to keep them. Cutting back on their travel
expenses, alone would go a long ways in helping our financial
problems.
This
morning I read Mr. Tom McClintock’s article in the San
Diego Union Tribune
on the free ride illegals are getting to enter our colleges and
universities, while our hard-working legal resident children can’t
get in with a straight A average. I believe that most of our politicos
are afraid of the Hispanic voters and will follow any agenda to
get re-elected instead of taking care of the constituents that
elected them into office the first time.
Our
daughter was fortunate to have been able to attend UCSD and USD
School of Law some 10 to 15 years ago. Today, she would not have
qualified. She didn’t cheat, lie or plagiarize to get her
degrees. She paid her own way, by taking out student loans and
working part time at Price Club. I feel sorry for those parents
and their children who cannot afford to pay the ever-increasing
costs for college. Our daughter-in-law is teaching high school
AP biology while attending classes to get her master’s degree.
I
firmly believe those who do not get the rewards by working for
them, do not make the best use of the money spent to get them.
