Not
only is Bishop John W. Haynes the pastor of Reformation Church in
San Diego, he is also the manager of Bishop John W. Haynes and Change.
The group, consisting of family members, sisters, niece and spouses,
has been performing together for ten years.
Originally
started as a traditional gospel group, the band has also ventured
into rhythm and soul. Their unique musical style has been inspiring
audiences of all ages, across the country. Performing at such notable
venues as: House of Blues in Hollywood, 4th and B Lounge in San
Diego and Super Bowl XXXII Super Fest, Bishop John W. Haynes and
Change have certainly lived up to their popularity.
The
first record project released by this outstanding group is titled
“Changing Times.” With its live feel, the listener is
drawn into the heart of the performance. The band is tight and professional,
and the vocals possess that certain quality that comes from years
of harmonizing.
Members
include John W. Haynes on bass, Tommy L. McCalester on keyboards,
Nathaniel Green, Jr. on lead guitar and Andre D. Buck on drums.
Excellent vocals are provided by Diane O. McCalester, Adrienne Greene
and Debra Smith.
“Changing
Times” is currently enjoying nationwide rotation. Media coverage
for the C.D. has been nonstop with television and radio interviews
as well as online and gospel magazine presence. This independent
release boasts ten exceptional songs, seven of which are written
by Bishop Haynes.
Starting
off, “Prepare To Fight” jumps out with the warning to
arm ourselves against the devil with brilliant guitar work supplied
by Nathaniel Greene, Jr. “Holy Ghost “ follows proclaiming
“Something got a hold of me, God set me free.”
Enchanting
vocals by Jacqueline Haynes tells of the “Changing Times.”
“Times are changing, people change but God remains the same,”
soothing words in today’s hectic world. More great guitar
work along with jazzy keyboards played by Tommy L. Mc Calester are
a treat on “Sooner Or Later.”
The
inspirational and uplifting “Fly Away” is beautifully
delivered by lead vocalist Diane O. McCalester, accompanied by very
polished harmonies. “You’ve Got To Be Saved” is
the simple but truthful statement, if you want to see Jesus. A funky
tune with a great beat. Strong lead vocals are supplied by Adrienne
Greene.
The
traditional gospel favorite, “Some Glad Morning,” delivered
by Debra Smith makes the listener feel as if they are in a packed
church in the midst of a revival. A joy to listen to.
“Changing
Times” is a delightful taste of the wonderful music that Bishop
John W. Haynes and Change performs. Popular and dynamic live performers,
the group is very much in demand locally and is rapidly gaining
a following nationally as well. The music video for “Prepare
To Fight” is enjoying regular airplay on Christian music channels.
