The Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo will donate over $5,000
of non-perishable, high protein foods to Interfaith Community Services
in Escondido. Interfaith, one of the largest non-profit, non-denominational
community service organizations in Southern California provides
over 100,000 hot meals per year to the hungry and homeless.
Jim
Wise, President of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo, stated: “After
our members became aware of all that Interfaith Community Services
does for its clients, they wanted to become involved. A sustaining
supply of food is one of Interfaith’s greatest needs and this
donation presents us with a terrific opportunity to practice what
we preach.

The
Classical Academies of Escondido and Oceanside, both Personalized
Learning public charter schools, announced that they have been granted
an interim term of accreditation by the Executive Director of the
Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The term of
accreditation for The Classical Academies will run through June
30, 2007. Granting of interim accreditation for schools by the WASC
Executive Director is a prestigious accomplishment following an
initial site visit, and particularly rare for charter schools classified
under independent study guidelines. The Classical Academies are
the first Kindergarten to 8th grade, all inclusive, charter schools
in the state to be granted an interim status. There are currently
only three public Kindergarten to 6th grade schools, and five 6th
to 8th grade public schools in the state with full accreditation
status from WASC.
