 Letters To The Editor
NOTE TO PASTORS

“The Church must take right ground regarding politics...Politics are part of religion in such as a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as part of their duty to God...(God) will bless or curse this nation according to the course (Christians) take (in politics).” Charles Finney, the “Billy Graham” of the early 1800s.

This message has not changed actually and factually. Events have proven that such is the case for this 21st Century. Shepherds hold the key to “lifting America back onto its moral track.” They must not withhold their message to the masses.

We are concerned church members wishing to thank those Shepherds who have accepted their unique position before God and their congregations. For those Shepherds who are not aware of their legal rights, please become informed and then stand up and shout your message from the rooftops, if need be. You can reform this wayward culture, which is rapidly destroying itself. Pick up your mantel! Put it on! Speak to the issues of the day. Sin is sin! It separates a man from His Savior, who died, went to hell, and rose from the dead in payment for all sin for all time!

“The proposition that America is a Christian nation is a statement of fact...that the organic life, the institutions, laws and official action of government is in accordance with the principle of Christianity,” says David Barton of Wallbuilders in Original Intend.

Abraham Lincoln wrote, “The only assurance of our nation’s safety is to lay our foundation in morality and religion. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its authors and finisher.”

The U.S. Constitution is the foundation of our nation and our freedom, and is based upon the Judeo-Christian Bible. Shepherds and many of the people do not know what our U.S. Constitution says. It is not taught in most of our schools. Many are saying that the Constitution is a living document, which really means that it can be changed by any judge or politician who wishes to interpret it according to their political views. It is not!

It is a legal document between the people and their government and can only be changed by amendments to the Constitution by three-fourths of the states legislators ratifying the change. We have fought many wars to protect this document, while those that either hate America or believe in socialism or Marxism are working behind the scenes to destroy it. Furthermore, we are not a democracy but a federated republic.

Regarding our families, “Certainly no legislation can be supposed more wholesome and necessary in the founding of a free, self-governing commonwealth... than that which seeks to establish it on the basis of the idea of the family, as consisting in and springing from the union for life and of one man and one woman in the holy estate of matrimony. The family is the sure foundation of all that is stable and noble in our civilization, the best guarantee of the reverent morality which is the source of all beneficent programs in social and political improvement” (Murphy vs. Ramsey & Others, 1885, United States Supreme Court).

The recent ruling by our present day Supreme Court was based on privacy for homosexuals, instead of Biblical morality. This is a direct attack against the family.

God calls homosexuality a sin and an abomination (Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26 & 27). Homosexuals call it an alternate lifestyle, although, there is no credible scientific proof that are born homosexual, it really is a behavior problem. In Sacramento wending their way through legislature, are bills giving special rights to homosexuals the same as married couples: requiring businesses to hire transvestites and forcing our schools to teach the students acceptance of homosexuality starting in kindergarten. They are AB 205, AB 196, SB 71, etc.

Americans respects freedom of religion, but for the people of the Islamic faith their allegiance is only to Allah and not to our U.S. Constitution. We have many decent Muslims living among us, but many do not know what the Koran really says. Most of the terrorists are Muslims and support Islamic beliefs. These terrorists were responsible for the bombing of PanAm Flight 103, the military barracks in Saudi Arabia, the American Embassies in Africa, the USS Cole, and the attack on the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

How long will the church remain silent? They must speak out! Do you think that as a Shepherd you are safe in your churches or synagogues? Check with the Christians and Jews around the world that are being persecuted. America is not immune from persecution. It is subtly happening every day through our courts and legislators passing laws to prevent the churches and synagogues to take part in the political process, and to gradually destroy the religious heritage of this nation.

We will either serve God or man. If we serve and obey God, He will empower us to accomplish his purpose on earth. If we serve man, Christianity will be destroyed. There will come a day when we will all stand before God and give an account of our life here on earth. Are you about our Father’s business or are you hiding in your churches, synagogues or closet?

AGAINST THE WAR?

At the last Vista board meeting, Jim Gibson, a board member and former Marine, suggested that the newest middle school in the district be named for a Marine Corps hero. He suggested Chesty Puller, a Marine who earned five Navy Crosses in the Second World War and in the Korean War. Jim’s rationale was that there are many active and retired Marines in the community. Naming a school after a Marine hero would demonstrate the board values their contributions and sacrifices. Gibson also suggested that the board consider naming the school after any Marine Corps hero, possibly one from the war in Iraq.

The board (Hubbard, Herrera, and Wade) instead of taking the matter under consideration for further study, rejected the suggestion out of hand and stated, “naming a school after a Marine Corps hero would be offensive,” and “that not everyone agrees with the Iraqi War.”

I’m not suggesting the board must name a school after any particular person, but I do think that considerate people should at least investigate and study the suggestion. What is most troubling to me is the statement stating that the name of a Marine Corps hero on a school would be offensive. With our culture breaking at the seams with every sort of outrage, why not give the students a role model whose entire life involved sacrifice, courage, dedication, loyalty and love of country? I find the board’s action to be extremely offensive and unwarranted.

SCHWARZENEGGER BAD!

In recent weeks, I have been communicating with religious conservatives about the upcoming vote to recall Governor Gray Davis and the views of candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger on issues which concern us.

I am very concerned that Schwarzenegger’s celebrity status is serving as a disguise to mask his pro-abortion, pro-homosexual and pro-higher taxes beliefs.

Once you scratch the superficial screen persona of the “Terminator,” you find the same old tired rhetoric of the anti-religious left. Schwarzenegger sees all of us who oppose abortion and cloning as “religious fanatics.” He favors both homosexual marriage and adoption.

I hope you will take the opportunity to address this matter with members of your congregation or community soon.

There is no discernible difference between Gray Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger on the moral issues. Religious conservatives in California need to speak up for candidates who represent their views and reject any pretenders like Schwarzenegger.
