CHRIS SURDOCK'S DEBUT RELEASE, SOMETHING TO BE "EXCITED" ABOUT
By ROXANNE THOMAS

Chris Surdock is a humble man, a willing vessel through which God speaks to our hearts — beckoning us to tap our toe, close our eyes and lift our voices up in praise.

No stranger to singing praises, Chris has been leading worship services throughout San Diego County for the past eight years. It is Chris’ goal to “light a fire in the heart of the believer to worship God in a more intimate way!” His hope is to disappear from the eyes of the worshiper and have the focus be on the Lord. He has succeeded in doing so with his new C.D.

Chris Surdock’s debut release, appropriately titled “I’m So Excited,” is a celebration of worship. It contains 10 beautifully crafted songs all written by Chris, with contributions on several by co-vocalist Tara Sartain.

Obeying a calling from the Lord, this unassuming artist has created an album for praise purposes, rather than profit. Chris’ desire to draw people into the presence of God is attained through heartfelt lyrics and soulful, pop music. We are reminded that God can be worshipped anywhere.

“I’m So Excited,” the title track, is a fun tune you can’t help but get caught up in praise with. Chris’ rich delivery is truly infectious. All the songs showcase his ability as a talented acoustic guitarist. Standout moments include impressive keys by “J. Dubb” John Williams, particularly on “Fill Me Up.” Joey Casora’s saxophone adds a jazzy splash to “Sing to the Lord.” Tara Sartain’s harmonies lend themselves beautifully on several tracks, with superb lead on the compelling “Show Me.” Chris’ aim to capture people’s heart and draw them closer to God, and put it in a form to be taken with them, is accomplished with his first C.D.

Most meaningful of the songs on this album is “All Of Me.” In a time of darkness the Lord revealed to Chris all that was required to be delivered. Giving his crowns back to God, “All of me I give to you, all I need is you,” the final track was created.

Recording at 82A Studios in Chula Vista was a tremendous experience, according to Chris. With such a blessed album the first time out, he was inspired to begin work on a second project. Chris is currently writing new songs with a true rock feel for his next worship album.

With numerous accomplishments and live performances under his belt, Chris is available for special music or guest worship. He has traveled throughout the country, bringing a high energy to worship services and concerts. He is also very involved in ministry in Mexico, employing his talent of singing in Spanish to deliver his message. Having been booked every Sunday for the last four months shows what an outstanding worship minister he is. His C.D. can be purchased on his website, www.chrissurdock.com. It is also available wherever he is performing. Another service Chris offers is a worship seminar and workshop. He acts as a liaison between the worship minister and pastor to create the most meaningful worship service possible. The intent is to get the church fired up to receive God’s word.

The Bible verse, Psalm 147:1 “Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God,” captures Chris Surdock’s philosophy perfectly. Let Chris lead you into worship by his contagious enthusiasm, and get excited to be praising the Lord.
