Mike
Gray and a team from North Coast Calvary Chapel in Carlsbad
recently built a church for Pastor Julio and Irene Molina
in the El Nino Colonia (about 15 miles southeast of Otay). The
group built both a church and a home through Baja Christian
Ministries.
"We
are very fortunate to live so close to an area in need where
our entire families can join together in Christ and carry
out His mission," Gray said. "Our
trips include people of all ages. My wife and I have
two young children, and one of the greatest pieces of advise
we've been given is that if we want to have our children respond
in a particular way, then we need to show them through our
example. Telling our kids about Christ and how we should help
the poor is one small step to our ministering to them, but
when they accompany us to help build a house and paint over
graffiti in a poor area, we put them in a place that allows
God to work in them. We also put them in a place that exposes
to them how the majority of the people in the world live —
not in the lap of luxury that we are blessed with."
